Metallix™

Field has developed a new innovative system that simulates metallic print effects without the need for special substrates or metallic inks. The patented 'Metallix' system makes it possible to print more than six colours plus one or more "metallic" colours in a single print pass from a six colour press. The striking effect can be used on packs to strengthen product differentiation and on-shelf presence.

Metallix is an eye-catching solution that can be used on a range of substrates including standard cartonboard options such as virgin, recycled or even kraft board. Numerous different metallic finishes are available and metallic effects can be applied to any colour imaginable. Print designs that previously required a double pass can now be achieved cost effectively to enhance a brand's image or awareness.

The system can also provide an alternative to additional processes such as foil blocking. Furthermore, cost benefits can also be achieved when compared to special substrates such as metallised laminated cartonboard. This removes the long lead-times associated with these materials and has an improved environmental impact as no laminated substrates are used.
